Galeries Lafayette Annecy was reworked with close attention to the city, the surrounding mountains and the lake. The interior architecture brings the department store into stronger contact with its setting, using local references through material, rhythm and scale rather than decoration.
Pine wood, Bleu de Savoie marble, concrete and vertical forms shape a clear sequence for moving, shopping, gathering and pausing. The existing architecture is strengthened through simple interventions that give the building more warmth, structure and orientation.
