Kampen House is a private residence on Sylt, renovated within the island’s tradition of brick houses, thatched roofs and protected village character. The exterior brick facade and thatched roof are preserved, while the interior is opened for a more generous way of living through light, texture and natural materials. The surrounding material landscape of the summer house informs the palette, with a bespoke kitchen in local granite, wood surfaces and thatch used for railings and passage walls. A new basement introduces a sauna and wellness area, extending the house with a calm place for retreat.

The work opens a more generous life within the existing frame. Pale surfaces, timber, woven textures and granite create a soft interior language beneath the original roof structure. The basement introduces a sauna and wellness area, bringing warmth, water and calm into the lower level.
