Interior architecture

2018

Inside the historic Mejlborg building from 1898, the showroom for Garde Hvalsøe and Dinesen brings two Danish craft companies into one shared setting. The interior is organised as a sequence of rooms, each with its own colour, proportion and material character, allowing kitchens, cabinetry and wooden floors to be experienced through scale and use.

The existing building gives the showroom its starting point. Ornate ceilings, deep colour references and a darker entrance create a sense of arrival before the rooms open towards a monolithic wooden staircase at the centre. Dinesen wood, Garde Hvalsøe cabinetry, crafted details and carefully placed furniture build a close relationship between floor, wall, object and room.
